This is stated in the column of the World Bank Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine, Satu Kahkonen, “Land reform by the end of the year: three fronts for the government,” published by the Kyiv edition of Economic Truth.
“Meaningful land reform must include incentives for long-term investment and good land management, access to credit, and the transfer of land to its most productive users,” the column says.
“As a result, the productivity of the agricultural industry could expand annual production by $15 billion and increase GDP by about 1,5%,” promises the World Bank director.
According to her, this will help increase revenues - up to $2 billion from one-time sales of public lands and $250 million annually from their lease.
