Ukrainian World Congress hopes that Babi Yar will help disconnect Russia from SWIFT
The international community should strengthen sanctions against Russia, said Evgeniy Choliy, a Canadian citizen and President of the World Congress of Ukrainians, during parliamentary hearings held in Kyiv dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy.

“Ukraine stands in the way of the Russian aggressor’s advance to the West and defends European values,” said the Canadian. “Therefore, the international community must strengthen economic sanctions against the Russian Federation until it de-occupies Crimea and fully implements the Minsk agreements. It is even necessary to resort to suspending the Russian Federation’s membership in the international payment systems SWIFT. I believe that honoring the victims of Babi Yar will become an even greater incentive for the international community to prevent the repetition of crimes against humanity and, in particular, to prevent further violations of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and human rights in Crimea and Donbass.”
