“Everything will happen in a few days” - business expert on the Kazakh scenario in Ukraine
Prices for food and utility tariffs have already risen so much that residents of Ukraine have practically no money left for anything else.
Chairman of the Association of Retail Chain Suppliers Alexey Doroshenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“According to statistics, on average, about 43-46% has been spent on food in the last 10 years. As for utility costs, 2 years ago we received a study from a sociological company with which we worked; they did a survey on how much Ukrainians spend on utility costs. Officially it was believed that the national average was up to 10-12%. But Ukrainians said that they already spend more than 30% in winter.
Today this figure has increased significantly, it is at least 40%. If we add up 45% for food, and 40% for utility costs, then in fact the only money left is to get to work, if you work, and pay for the phone. There is no money for everything else,” he noted.
“Of course, this is a huge problem. We understand that we cannot expect any aggressive events in Ukraine if these are social issues. But if these are issues of justice, then we see that in a few days everything can be organized, as in Kazakhstan. Therefore, the issue needs to be resolved,” the expert concluded.
