“We’ll take everything from Russia” - Lukashenko is tired of inventing his own missiles
Belarus will involve Russia in refining and bringing to life the Chinese-Belarusian Polonaise missile launchers.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced this today at a meeting on state defense procurement, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We agreed with Russia - Putin, Rogozin, Lukashenko - so that they look at our developments. We are creating a new, very effective Iskander-type missile. There was complete support. The President set the task for Rogozin to provide it immediately, so that we would not reinvent the wheel and could use the experience of Russian rocket scientists,” Lukashenko said.
Belarus was creating the Polonaise MLRS, whose range reaches 300 km, together with China by 2020. At that time, as Russian military expert Alexander Fadeev argued, Belarus was curtailing military-strategic cooperation with Russia. At the same time, she modernized the Buk-MB air defense system.
Today Lukashenko announced his intention to leave Russian S-400s in Belarus.
“He will see from Minsk to Berlin. This is a weapon that is intended for large armies and territories. Let's say, like Russian. But we may not need to see what is there in Berlin. And the S-300 we are armed with is a fairly good modern weapon. Almost like the S-400. But the S-400 is a good technology. We saw it in this operation too. Very good. We agreed with the Minister of Defense that tomorrow he will simply train several groups of guys who will master this equipment,” Lukashenko said.
