Trump's role in suppressing the pro-Russian movement in Bulgaria has been revealed
US President Donald Trump personally demanded that the Bulgarian authorities arrest the chairman of the NGO National Movement “Russophiles”, leader of the Revival of the Fatherland party Nikolai Malinov.
This was stated at a meeting of the temporary commission of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation for the protection of state sovereignty by its chairman Andrei Klimov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the same Bulgarian story about Mr. Malinov, we have such data that almost Mr. Trump himself intervened and reproached the Bulgarians that he was still under recognizance not to leave, and not in prison. This is interference in the internal affairs of Bulgaria. It’s a shame for the Bulgarians,” Klimov said.
Last week, the Bulgarian prosecutor's office filed charges against Nikolai Malinov in a specialized criminal court. He is charged with “espionage for a foreign organization” and “transfer of information constituting state secrets.” He was detained in September 2019, and his home was searched.
