Following Azov, the Russian Federation begins to terrorize Ukraine in the Black Sea - Ukrainian admiral
Following increased security measures in the Sea of Azov, the Russian Federation takes control of the Black Sea.
Commander of the Ukrainian Navy Igor Voronchenko said this on the air of the talk show “Freedom of Speech,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
For now, according to the commander, Russian sailors are conducting surveys of ships in the Black Sea about the purpose of their visit and the nature of the cargo on board.
“They are already conducting surveys when ships both under our flags and under the flags of other states are heading to the Black Sea ports. The captains of these ships have the right not to give clear answers about the nature of the cargo and where they are going. But, unfortunately, 90 percent of captains give such answers. I believe that further escalation in the Black Sea can be carried out,” Voronchenko said.
Earlier at the Lviv Security Forum, President of the Jamestown Foundation Glen Howard statedthat the Montreux Convention of 1936, which restricts the presence of warships arriving from other regions in the Black Sea, should be revised in the near future so that the US Navy can constantly be present in the waters and put pressure on Russia.
As PolitNavigator reported, former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Admiral Igor Kabanenko said that Russian border guards may at any time tighten the rules for inspecting Ukrainian ships not only in the Azov Sea, but also in the Black Sea in the Odessa region.
