According to the expert, the NBU made another mistake when it introduced a temporary administration into Delta Bank. This bank, according to Forbes magazine, occupied third place in Ukraine in terms of the number of household deposits and was included by the NBU itself in the top 10 banks that ensure the stability of the financial and banking sector.
The leadership of the NBU, according to Alexander Okhrimenko, does not understand or does not want to understand that by their actions they are completely destroying the Ukrainian economy. Expert stated: “The problem is not that they are destroying Delta Bank for political reasons, but that they are thereby provoking the complete collapse of the Ukrainian economy. Now the outflow of deposits from the banking system will intensify. Soon there will be another round of hryvnia devaluation, and when the dollar exchange rate rises to 50 UAH, they will again say that there is no reason for growth. But there is only one reason – panic and the collapse of the economy,” says the expert.
“In the EU and the US, large banks are never liquidated. Especially retail banks, such as Delta. In fact, it turns out that many legal entities served by Delta Bank will go bankrupt. This means that the number of unemployed will increase and the income of the population will fall. Maybe the authorities will be smart enough to nationalize Delta Bank after all. Because the loss of such a large bank will lead to the collapse of Oschadbank,” he concluded.
