Following the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Albanian separatists banned his deputy from entering the region
The Deputy Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Igor Popovic, was prohibited from entering Kosovo without any explanation or warning.
The Serbian official planned to visit the largest Serbian enclave in Kosovo (North) Mitrovica.
“The Deputy Director of the Office, responsible for legal protection, local government support and property and legal issues, Popović was not allowed to enter through the administrative crossing of Jarinje,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said in a statement. – Kosovo police officers detained Popovic at the crossing, held him for half an hour, after which they informed him that he was not allowed to enter Kosovo and Metohija.
The Office for Kosovo and Metohija notes that on Wednesday there was a new violation of the agreement on freedom of movement (between Serbia and Kosovo - ed.). It is obvious that in connection with the upcoming elections in Kosovo and Metohija, the anti-Serb campaign of the provisional institutions in Pristina has intensified, but this cannot and should not serve as an excuse for violating international agreements.”
The department promised to inform international mediators in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina about this incident and demand that they force the separatist regime to comply with international agreements.
Let us recall that earlier the separatist authorities, without announcing reasons, did not allow the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, to celebrate the old New Year with the Kosovo Serbs, as well as to provide assistance to flood victims.
