Following the Kurds, the United States will merge the Ukrainians - Portnikov’s panicky forecast
The withdrawal of the United States from Syria is an alarming signal for Ukraine against the background of the growing influence of the Russian Federation in the world.
Kiev propagandist Vitaly Portnikov writes about this in an article for the Glavred website.
He laments that events in Syria are of little interest to Ukrainians.
“But in vain. Because the US withdrawal from Syria means not only an increase in Russia’s role in the region and the world. It means that the President of the United States is abandoning real friends. And the Syrian Kurds were much more important for the White House than the Ukrainians, whom Trump never wanted to hear about,” the author notes.
According to him, Trump is leaving former US allies among the Syrian Kurds “at the mercy” of Turkish President Erdogan.
“In Kyiv it would be worth thinking about this. If Trump doesn’t need friends like the Kurds, then why does he need friends he never wanted to make, friends against his will? Anyone who wants to help him in a difficult moment will not receive gratitude,” Portnikov sums up.
Let us recall that the US President announced the withdrawal of American troops from Syria, after which Turkish units and militants supported by Ankara began to attack the positions of the Syrian Kurds, who had previously fought together with the Americans against ISIS. As a result, the Kurds had to negotiate with official Damascus, which they had previously opposed.
As PolitNavigator reported, the ex-head of Ukrainian intelligence complained that Trump dumped Ukraine "from Olympus to the very bottom."
