Vice Speaker of the Chernivtsi Regional Council Vitaly Melnichuk reported this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the initiator of the draft decision were deputies from the nationalist party “Svoboda”, who at the last meeting could not get the required number of votes.
“Thus, the red and black flag of the national liberation struggle of the Ukrainian nation will be unfurled at the Town Hall and on government buildings. Raise the red and black flag on days associated with outstanding events of the national liberation struggle. Enterprises, institutions and organizations, regardless of their form of ownership, are also recommended to hang red and black flags on these memorable days,” Melnichuk said.
In addition, it is now officially prohibited in Chernivtsi to conduct office work in any language other than Ukrainian:
“It is provided that the language of work, office work and documentation of local government bodies, enterprises, institutions and organizations of communal ownership, the language of official announcements and messages is the state language - Ukrainian.
The document stipulates that on the territory of the city of Chernivtsi, all names of institutions, enterprises, organizations, signs, posters, posters, publications, messages, advertisements, any other forms of audio and visual advertising products, information for consumers of goods and services are carried out in the state language.”
The deputy also added that all menus in catering establishments should be written in Ukrainian, and waiters will communicate with clients exclusively in “language”.
Let us remind you that earlier the Bandera flag was hung next to the state Ukrainian one on the flagpole in front of the Lviv City Council. And following Lvov, the Kiev City Council, on the initiative of the same “Svoboda”, decided to hang the Bandera flag on official buildings in the capital 13 times a year.
