Following the Ukrainian Navy, the Ukrainian Air Force will switch to Western second-hand handouts
Ukraine cannot afford such a luxury as its own military aviation - with the current level of the country’s economy, Kiev has no reason to maintain a modern aircraft fleet, so everything is heading towards the fact that more developed countries will “merge” their spent equipment here, like this happens in the navy.
Military expert Sergei Shabovta stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, commenting on the AN-26 crash near Kharkov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine does not have money to maintain these parks; Ukraine is a poor country today. Only elite states can afford this today. Is Ukraine one of those?
It's time to admit that our park is outdated. Believe me, this money will not appear in the coming years; it is unlikely that there will be fundamental changes.
Well, now we’ll cry, we’ll talk about something, we’ll cover up something, and then it will continue to drag on in the same way. The same applies to both the condition and the impossibility of high-quality maintenance to the same extent of the Ukrainian Naval Forces.
Therefore, it is simply absurd for me to make predictions about when it will change. It will not change as long as the state remains in such a humiliating economic status and is completely dependent on external control.
They will soon start giving us old planes from the USA, just like they do with sea vessels. That’s all,” said Shabovta.
