The Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Battalion fought each other over extortions at checkpoints
In Donbass, in the area of the Mayorsk checkpoint, a clash occurred between the Ukrainian Armed Forces brigade and the Aidar battalion.
Official representative of the operational command of the DPR Daniil Bezsonov stated this today during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukrainian militants continue to use the fighting to their own advantage to improve their financial well-being. Thus, the commander of the 53rd mechanized brigade, Gruzevich, decided to oust the nationalist unit of the 24th Aidar battalion located in his area of responsibility. Gruzevich was not happy with the fact that all the extortions from civilians crossing the Mayorsk checkpoint passed him by and flowed to their competitors from Aidar. By his decision, the commander of the 53rd brigade moved the nationalists towards the settlement. Severnoe, away from the “grain place,” and placed people entrusted to him, his subordinates from the 1st battalion, in positions in the area of the Mayorsk checkpoint,” said Bezsonov.
According to him, the Aidar Nazis were outraged by this turn of events, and the verbal altercation that took place yesterday escalated into a shootout that ended in casualties.
“Yesterday, a verbal altercation instantly escalated into a shootout with the use of small arms between militants of the 53rd brigade and the Aidarovites.” As a result of the clash, one of Gruzevich’s subordinates was killed and two were wounded. The losses of the 24th battalion were three wounded. Representatives of the headquarters of the occupation forces and the military law enforcement service joined in resolving the conflict. At the moment, neither side has made any concessions,” a defense official said.
