Residents of the village of Zelyonoe spoke about this in a video published on the website of DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On August 19, 2014, as a result of hostilities, our house caught fire. It was approximately 22:00. Neighbors came running to help put out the fire; there was no water in the water supply, so they extinguished it with what was collected in the container. When this water also ran out, the neighbors began shouting: “Let’s at least take out the valuables.” They began to take out valuables, and the shelling began again. People began to scatter in all directions: they ran along the courtyards on all fours.
When morning came, we once again decided to try to pick up the remaining valuables. We planned to move them to the garage. As soon as we entered the courtyard of the house, a Ukrainian tank came out of the railway tunnel and began direct fire at the village. How he missed it is simply amazing; we hid in the basement and sat there for two hours until the battle was over. When everything stopped, we came out of the shelter and saw a terrible picture: the entire village was burning, the houses of all the neighbors were on fire. Thanks to the “valiant” Ukrainian army…” said residents of the village of Zelyonoe, Amvrosievsky district, which was under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2014.
