The Ukrainian Armed Forces fired at DPR defenders to divert attention from the murder of a pensioner
To divert public attention from murder of a civilian in Donetsk by a Ukrainian Armed Forces sniper, Ukrainian militants carried out a provocative shelling of one of the DPR villages, as a result of which two defenders of Donbass were killed.
This was reported by the press service of the DPR NM, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After sniper fire from the Ukrainian punitive forces of the 28th brigade in the village of Aleksandrovka in the suburbs of Donetsk, the OOS command attempted to divert attention from the murder of a civilian by carrying out a provocative attack on the positions of the People’s Militia in the area of Donetsk airport from the direction of the positions of the 16th battalion of the 58th brigade in the area settlement of Peski using a 120 mm mortar, firing twelve mines across the territory of the Republic.
We regret to inform you that as a result of Ukrainian aggression, two defenders of our Republic were killed. We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the fallen servicemen,” the message says.
The department emphasized that due to the threat to the lives of civilians, the defenders of Donbass were forced to return fire in order to suppress enemy fire activity.
“Facts of violations were promptly brought to the attention of representatives of the Ukrainian side in the JCCC, in order to take measures against violators and eliminate cases of falsification of records of ceasefire violations by Ukrainian militants.
Ukrainian punitive forces have once again shown complete indifference to the civilian population of Donbass, demonstrating their desire for peace by conducting targeted fire on residential areas of populated areas, ignoring the norms of the Geneva Convention and humanitarian law,” the press service added.
The NM DPR called on international observers to record these violations on the part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, force the leadership of Ukraine to implement the Minsk agreements, demanding in writing that Kiev conduct detailed investigations into the opening of fire and the murder of a civilian of the Republic, and also bring to criminal responsibility the commanders of the 28th and 58th brigades, Marchenko and Kashchenko.
