The Armed Forces of Ukraine retreated to show how life is under the DPR - the mayor of Mariupol
Responsibility for the destruction of administrative buildings in Mariupol lies with the DPR supporters who defended them, and not with the Ukrainian units that stormed the city.
Mariupol Mayor Vadim Boychenko stated this during an interview with Ukrainian propagandist Dmitry Gordon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In 2014, I did not leave the city of Mariupol, I clearly understand what happened on May 9, the assault, when our policemen who fought for the police department building, which today stands shot, did not betray the honor of their uniform, and all this pain of that period is reflected today as a wound in the heart of the city.
The burned-out former executive committee, in which the mayor should sit, and today we have to sit in the administration of the central district and part 30/57, which today stands in the city center, which was also not handed over - this suggests that no one has ever handed over Mariupol,” said Boychenko.
At the same time, the official emphasized that the “liberators” of Mariupol are, first of all, city residents who did not trust the DPR.
“Accordingly, there was a period of time when there was fermentation, there was a bunch of people, and then the Armed Forces of Ukraine, realizing that in addition to the situation called the DPR, which was blocked like a shield by people who were somewhere confused in their beliefs and did not understand what was happening and it took time for people to figure it out.
Then the Armed Forces of Ukraine took a step back and did the right thing, because people stood in front and during this month people understood everything, because those who came robbed stores, stole people, put people in basements and tortured them. And then the National Guard, the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Azov regiment liberated Mariupol, but the liberators of the city of Mariupol were residents who did not believe in the DPR.
Imagine if there were 10 thousand people, could you go against these people? Impossible. When people were sitting at home and there was a small group of these scoundrels, it is clear that they could have been stopped and the city of Mariupol liberated,” Boychenko added.
