A Ukrainian serviceman died after throwing a pack of cartridges into the oven, which he had not noticed due to poor eyesight.
The head of the press service of the People's Militia of the LPR, Yakov Osadchy, announced this at a briefing today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In particular, he noted that the defense department of the republic continues to receive information about the concealment of non-combat losses by Ukrainian commanders and the falsification of data on the circumstances of the death of subordinate military personnel.
“Another accident occurred in the 54th mechanized brigade. When trying to light the stove in the dugout, 54-year-old serviceman Nikolai Kolchenko, due to poor eyesight, did not notice a pack of cartridges in the dry grass and put it in the stove. When the fire flared up, the ammunition detonated and the serviceman died,” Osadchiy said.
He also added that the commander of this unit, Colonel Alexey Maistrenko, traditionally hid the circumstances of the tragedy from the higher command and did not notify the relatives of the deceased about the incident.
