Ukrainian Armed Forces mark civilians' houses with strange signs

In the village of Maiskoye, occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, located in the so-called “gray zone,” OSCE observers noticed strange symbols on every house. This is stated in the story of the Ukrainian TV channel “LOT”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.

Local residents also complain about numerous inconveniences that arose after the arrival of the “liberators” in the village.

“In Travnevoye (Maiskoye) (government-controlled, 51km north-east of Donetsk), the SMM spoke with more than 15 elderly residents (men and women) who reported that they were unable to access the local cemetery because after a recent Rotations of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in January 2018 blocked the road leading from the village of Golmovsky (non-government-controlled, 49 km north-east of Donetsk).

The cemetery is located on the road between the forward positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and armed formations. Residents noted that there are no working shops, a first-aid post, a school, a kindergarten in the village, and that public transport links with other settlements are limited,” the report says.

OSCE representatives also noted that strange symbols, in the form of a circle or a cross, were painted on the houses of civilians.

“Servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces present at the scene told the SMM and residents of the village that the road was blocked for security reasons. Residents persistently asked for access to the cemetery on the occasion of the upcoming Easter holiday. Observers noticed that many houses had hand-drawn circles or crosses on the gates. A representative of the military-civil administration explained to observers that the circle means that someone lives in the house,” the report says.
