The Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost the remains of high-tech equipment
Ukraine needed at least a minimal victory against the backdrop of total defeats, and therefore an attempt was made to capture Zmeiny Island.
This was reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent, said by military expert Dmitry Boltenkov, who noted that Zmeiny occupied a special place in Ukrainian military propaganda from the first days of the operation.
“And in a situation where Ukraine is suffering defeat in different directions (in particular, Popasnaya released), Kyiv needs at least a small victory. Apparently, he had a plan to take possession of this island and on May 9, for the sake of propaganda effect, declare his victory. Instead Kyiv suffered huge losses: several planes, several helicopters and Bayraktars, several boats of both the Ukrainian naval forces and the border service,” the analyst told Izvestia.
In fact, he says, in an attempt to achieve a virtual victory, all the remnants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ high-tech equipment were thrown into battle.
“As a result, equipment and trained specialists are lost. Information appeared about death of the former commander 10th Naval Aviation Brigade Igor Bedzai. If this is so, then apparently he piloted one of the Mi-14 helicopters, which are based in Nikolaev,” Boltenkov concluded.
