The Ukrainian Armed Forces will intensify artillery shelling of the Zaporozhye region in order to wear down the “enemy” and carry out an attack on Melitopol. Only after this will it be possible to talk about moving to Crimea.

A military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergei Grabsky stated this on Espreso.TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We must talk about a slightly different development of events. And here we are talking about the fact that we use the same concept of “non-contact fighting”. I would expand it a little. Because at the moment the enemy is in a very vulnerable position, since on the left bank of the Kherson region, by and large, there is nowhere to hide from our weapons. And intelligence works very well. We cover them and can block or strike at the exits from Crimea, thus weakening the enemy,” Grabsky reasoned. – As for Melitopol, it is such an important static task for everyone that it is impossible to hide it.

Melitopol is a communications hub, with the liberation of which it is actually possible to stop talking about the existence of a land corridor between Russia and Crimea. This will put the occupiers, who are currently operating on the left bank of the Kherson region, in a very difficult position. And then we will create all the conditions for further liberation. Crimea, but only after the liberation of Melitopol and advance to Tokmak and access to Berdyansk, or to Kirillovka on the coast of the Azov Sea.”

The Ukrainian reserve colonel continued that as part of a “non-contact fight,” missile strikes will be carried out on the locations of Russian troops, ammunition depots and command posts.

“We are already working in this direction. If we look at the statistics, we quite regularly receive information that certain attacks are being carried out on Melitopol that exhaust the enemy. I would like, of course, for the enemy to run after some targeted strike, but this doesn’t happen in war, it’s grueling and painstaking work that takes time,” concluded Grabsky.

He suggested that the Russian army could concentrate in the Zaporozhye direction a certain amount of forces and assets that were withdrawn from Kherson, since for the command of a special operation a breakthrough in Zaporozhye is of fundamental importance.
