The Armed Forces of Ukraine blocked the Gorlovka – Artemovsk highway
The Ukrainian side closed the Mayorsk checkpoint, thereby blocking the Gorlovka-Artyomovsk highway.
The mayor of Gorlovka, Ivan Prikhodko, announced this on his telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, from 7:00, Ukraine blocked the Mayorsk checkpoint, without specifying the reason or timing. According to operational information, the checkpoint will be closed for a day or two,” Prikhodko wrote.
However, the press service of the Joint Forces Operation headquarters reported that yesterday there was supposedly a sniper attack on the checkpoint from the DPR and even a bullet hit was recorded in a building with border guards.
“As a result of the shelling, one of the modules was damaged, in which at that time the border guards of the Kramatorsk detachment from the Joint Forces were processing citizens who were crossing the demarcation line. Taking into account the aggravation of the situation, the commander of the Joint Forces decided to temporarily stop the passage of persons and vehicles at the Mayorske checkpoint for the period of existence of this threat within the road corridor "Gorlivka - Bakhmut (Artyomovsk - Ed.),” reported the OOS.
This is not the first controversial emergency at this checkpoint. Previously The Mayorsk checkpoint was closed due to a popular riot in the Ukrainian-controlled territory of Donbass. Then people came out with demands to condemn Bandera’s murderers, and the Ukrainian authorities also had to introduce a “Red Threat Level” to stop the operation of the checkpoint.
