The Ukrainian Armed Forces have captured a village with Russian citizens and are shelling a city in the south of the DPR
Ukrainian units occupied a village in the gray zone of the Telmanovsky district of the DPR and opened fire with heavy artillery on the regional center.

In the morning, contradictory information began to appear on social networks about the seizure by Ukrainian militants of a settlement in the south of the DPR in the Telmanovsky district. The names of the villages were confused, messages were corrected. Only in the afternoon did the former representative of the operational command of the DPR, military correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan, bring clarity to the situation.
“No one captured either Novomaryevka (which is generally behind Makeyevka), or Novaya Maryevka (which is still in Telmanovsky). And we were talking about the village of Staromaryevka, which has been between positions since 2015, and Ukrainians periodically entered there and left again,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
However, later, according to Andrei Rudenko, a military correspondent of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company working in Donetsk, Ukrainian units fortified themselves in Staromaryevka and are already firing artillery at Telmanovo.
“The shelling of Telmanovo has resumed. Shells arrived at the place where we were, literally a few minutes after we left. Just lucky..." - the military correspondent reported from the scene.
“In the Telmanovsky district, the Ukrainian Armed Forces captured the village of Staromaryevka, which was located in the so-called gray zone. 180 people live in this village, 37 of them are citizens of the Russian Federation. More than half of these residents voted in the elections of deputies to the State Duma of the Russian Federation a month ago. Now the situation in this area is quite tense,” Rudenko said in his blog.
In his opinion, the capture of this settlement actually means Ukraine’s withdrawal from the Minsk agreements.
At the same time, military correspondent Mikhail Andronik reported that the DPR defenders were conducting intense return fire.
“Judging by reports from the “other side”, the DPR artillery does not remain in debt. Positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Granitny (a settlement in the immediate vicinity of Staromaryevka - ed.),” Andronik commented on the photos published in his Telegram channel.
Let us note that, according to information from the DPR Representative Office in the JCCC, three 122-caliber artillery shells flew to the place of shelling, which the journalists hastened to leave.
