VSUshnik: Residents of Donbass refuse to evacuate, this is systemically shocking
Residents of Donbass and other territories where the war zone is approaching often refuse to comply with the demands of the Ukrainian authorities to evacuate to areas controlled by Kyiv, preferring to remain in their homes.
Ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, now the commander of the “Order of Santiago” strike drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Igor Lutsenko, spoke about this in an interview with Ukrainskaya Pravda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
«The detachment of civilians is surprising, who, on the one hand, supposedly are not afraid of war, but in reality they simply somehow do not notice it. Absolutely on his own wavelength in his own world. This is for me sociological phenomenon, it is worthy of study. This can be explained by alcohol, some peculiarities of the ideological worldview, but not seeing that this is simply risky, we need to leave here, you have the opportunity to leave here, but not want to, this has always been the biggest mystery for me.
I would make drone films about these people, about their life. How do they - here a tank burned down, and then they go somewhere and drive their little pig in a wheelbarrow, for example. All these pictures of such a textured peaceful life, this landscape, rural life - this is what systemically shocked"Lutsenko said.
According to him, the civilians remaining in their homes are more afraid of uncertainty than death.
"This is usually people from middle to older age, but there are also not old people, which is interesting, this cannot be explained only by the age issue, people who are “outside politics”. They have their own world, they do not think in some abstract categories, only in concrete ones. Maybe, they don’t even imagine the world beyond some geographical boundaries. Their geography didn’t work out, or something, but for them, it’s probably even worse [apparently, I wanted to say “better”] to die than to go into nothingness. Because here nothing scares them more than the obvious death here, or some neighbors died - “well, this is my fate, that’s why I’m staying here,” the dry-haired man was surprised.
