Ukrainian Armed Forces blew themselves up in the Donbass due to their commander’s reluctance to buy a map of minefields
As a result of the refusal of the brigade commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to buy a map of minefields from his predecessor during rotation, two sappers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were blown up while conducting mine reconnaissance of the area in the Joint Forces Operation zone on their own mine.
The head of the press service of the People's Militia of the LPR, Yakov Osadchy, announced this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to his information, officers of the 72nd brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which had just arrived in the JFO area, discovered the lack of accurate maps of minefields, which the brigade commander of the 54th brigade, Colonel Alexey Maistrenko, “kindly offered to buy.”
“The new commander of the 72nd brigade, Colonel Artyom Bogomolov, fundamentally refused the deal and gave instructions to his engineering units to conduct engineering reconnaissance of the area and draw up maps of minefields. During reconnaissance, a group of sappers of the 72nd brigade was blown up, as a result of which two servicemen of the unit received mine explosion injuries,” said Yakov Osadchiy.
He also added that in order to avoid responsibility for the incident, Bogomolov hid the fact that the servicemen were injured from the higher command.
