VSU officers in Severodonetsk tried to sell weapons and American thermal imagers
In Severodonetsk, Lugansk region, the SBU detained three members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine while attempting to sell a batch of ammunition and weapons.
Ivan Filiponenko, an officer of the press service of the People's Militia of the LPR, stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Three servicemen of the 59th brigade were detained by SBU officers while attempting to sell another batch of weapons and ammunition in the village of Severodonetsk. During the arrest, 5 AK-74 assault rifles, 4 grenade launchers, 30 RGD-5 and F-1 grenades, more than 30 fuses for them, almost three thousand rounds of 5,45 caliber ammunition, as well as two American-made night vision devices were confiscated from the attackers,” – said Filiponenko.
According to his information, in connection with the theft of weapons and ammunition, the command of the OTG “North” sent a Missile and Artillery Weapons Service Commission to the 59th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to conduct a check of the accounting and availability of weapons.
“During the work of the commission, a shortage of 13 thermal imagers and night vision devices made in the USA was identified. An investigation into this fact is currently underway. The commission determined the involvement of the brigade commander Kashchinin in the shortage,” added the representative of the defense department.
