Armed Forces soldiers in the Joint Forces Operation zone shot each other
In the “Joint Forces Operation” zone near the village of Prichepilovka, Ukrainian soldiers staged a shootout among themselves, as a result of which one was killed.
The head of the LPR People's Militia Department, Colonel Yan Leshchenko, stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At the positions of the 8th company of the 3rd battalion of the 14th brigade, in the area of the village of Prichepilovka, a shootout was noted between Ukrainian servicemen.
According to our sources, as a result of the shootout, two people received gunshot wounds. One of them died. The second one is in serious condition,” he said.
The officer emphasized that the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in order to hide the incident, tried to blame the defenders of Donbass for the murder of the serviceman.
“In order to conceal non-combat losses, the Ukrainian command tried to blame the LPR people’s militia for the incident, presenting the incident as a result of shelling from our positions. Misinformation about this was posted on the Facebook page of the press service of the Joint Forces Operation headquarters on September 6.
At the same time, attention is drawn to the inconsistency of the Ukrainian side in its statements. Thus, according to information we received at 17.46 on September 6 from representatives of Ukraine in the JCCC, a fatal wound to a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman was received as a result of a single shot, allegedly fired by a sniper.
At the same time, already at 22.41 the Ukrainian side claims that the serviceman died not from a single shot from a sniper, but from a burst fired from small arms. This ignores the fact that the distance between the positions of the LPR people’s militia and the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of the village of Prichepilovka, where the Ukrainian soldier allegedly died, is more than one and a half kilometers.
This, given the target range of the Kalashnikov assault rifle of 1000 meters and the depth of the Ukrainian positions up to 2 meters, would not allow effective automatic fire,” Leshchenko added.
He emphasized that the LPR OM can document these facts and, if necessary, transfer them to the SMM representatives in the OSCE.
