“All hope is in forests and swamps”: in Lviv they are afraid of an attack from Belarus
In fact, today Belarus is in a state of war with Ukraine.
Lviv military expert Petr Chernik stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“More than 40 thousand military personnel have been drafted into the ranks of the Belarusian armed forces. If at the time of the aggression there were about 44 thousand, now there are about 80 thousand. 40 thousand, by the way, is 10 brigades, which is quite a lot. And even this is not the main thing. We must remind you that in fact Belarus is in fact at war with Ukraine.
Heavy missile strikes using Iskander missile launchers, primarily on the territory of Western Ukraine, on my native Lvov, were carried out from the territory of Belarus. Not only on the ground, but also in the air.
Tu-22 strategic bombers quite often carried out missile launches against Zhitomir and Vinnitsa, at the operational depth that their technical capabilities allowed.
That is, we are already at war with them, it’s just not supposed to be called that, but we need to call things by their proper names,” Chernik said.
He fears a repeat ground strike towards Kyiv.
“Is a ground strike possible? Absolutely. It needs to be taken seriously. There is a little optimism in the part called natural obstacles, the so-called Pripyat swamps. It’s summer now, they are wet, I can’t imagine how to deploy mechanized units in order to go through the Volyn forests and Pripyat swamps.
It is unlikely that these attacks will be in the direction of Western Ukraine, but in the direction of Kyiv again, together with the northern group, which is opposite Kyiv and Sumy, it is quite possible,” added the Lvov expert.
