The Ukrainian oligarch, ex-governor of the Donetsk region, and now deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Sergei Taruta stated this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine needs to develop its own gas and oil production. From three to five billion dollars of investment - and we will be able to provide ourselves with our own gas, from five to ten billion - and we will already be exporting gas.
And then we can make it on the market for 110-145 dollars, this will be the market price. In America today it’s 110-120 dollars, and no one dictates to them, there is no Naftogaz there to regulate. It is necessary that the supply be greater than the demand, and then the price will drop.
Our country has colossal reserves, we have the second largest reserves of oil and gas after Russia, we can provide ourselves with cheap gas and oil, and still sell it,” Taruta said.
At the same time, the oligarch admitted that it was not possible to implement plans to attract American companies to gas production in Ukraine due to Ukrainian officials who do not want to part with the assigned gas “trough.”
“That’s why the US Secretary of Energy, when he was in November, said: “Ukraine for Europe is like Texas for America, it has colossal reserves. If you start investing there, bring investors. I made agreements with the largest American companies. They say that they cannot get officials to sign an agreement on joint distribution of products for eight months in order to obtain licenses, because they were taken away by officials of the previous government, and in this government there are overseers who keep a hand on all fields and do not allow today’s workers there investors,” noted Sergei Taruta.
