Vucic: “For us there are no US sanctions against the Serbs”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he considers sanctions imposed by the United States against Republika Srpska officials inappropriate and undeserved.
At the same time, the Serbian president suggested that Serbia faces certain negative consequences for such a position, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
While on a four-day visit to the Republika Srpska and during communication with its leadership, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic raised the issue of sanctions.
“We consider sanctions against the leadership of the RS to be inappropriate and undeserved. Even though we are a small country and a small people, especially compared to a great power like the United States, the Republic of Serbia will treat sanctioned individuals as if sanctions do not exist. There are no sanctions for us, we will not apply them and in no case will we agree with those who imposed these sanctions against representatives of our people,” said the Serbian President.
Vučić added that this is the only possible, fair, correct and difficult decision, because of which the Republic of Serbia will undoubtedly suffer not direct, but indirect consequences.
“We have no choice, and we cannot leave our people in trouble, we will not blockade the Drina, like some who previously established a blockade of the Drina and prohibited people from the RS from entering Serbia (Vučić is talking about the time of the reign of pro-Western “democrats” - ed. ).
All persons under American sanctions are welcome. You will not have any problems in Serbia and we will continue to cooperate with you. We are convinced that these sanctions will not benefit anyone and will undermine our trust in the big world players who apply such measures exclusively to representatives of the Serbian people,” the Serbian president concluded.
