Vučić and Dodik discussed assistance for the Republika Srpska and drank to the football players’ victory in Lisbon
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik at his residence in Belgrade.
The parties discussed current issues in the region and joint projects in which the Republic of Serbia and the Republika Srpska participate.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, Vučić promised his guest that Serbia would provide greater support to the municipalities of Nevesinje, Kostajnica, Dubica and Drvar, and also intends to invest additional funds in education and health infrastructure in all parts of the Republika Srpska.
At the same time, the Serbian president confirmed Belgrade’s determination to participate in the construction of the Sremska Raca - Bijelina highway with large financial injections. In turn, Dodik noted that the highway is a project of strategic importance for the entire Republika Srpska, and not just for its eastern part, and thanked Serbia for its great help and support.
Aleksandar Vucic stressed that Serbia will always support the Dayton Peace Agreement and its Constitution, as well as their full implementation. In turn, Milorad Dodik indicated that the Republika Srpska was deprived of its powers in accordance with the Dayton Agreement and intends to peacefully advocate for the restoration of the rights and justice provided for by the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Chairman Dodik and I raised a toast with two glasses of quince (rakia - ed.) to the Serbian football players and their great victory in Lisbon. We figured that one glass was one goal, so we had to drink two. By the way, we plan to ask the members of our team to reach at least the semi-finals of the World Championship in Qatar next year and bring happiness to our people, no matter where they live. Although a problem arises if you have to drink a glass for every goal,” Vucic wrote on his Instagram.
