Vučić and the Patriarch of the SOC commemorated the expelled and murdered brethren of the Republic of Serbian Krajina
In the suburban village of the Serbian capital of Belgrade, Busie, mourning events were held to mark the anniversary of the Croatian punitive operation “Storm” (Oluja).
It was through this village in 1995 that columns of refugees from the unrecognized Republic of Serbian Krajina, liquidated by the Croatian military, walked.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the night before thousands of Serbs came to Busije to honor the memory of their fellow tribesmen, about two and a half thousand of whom were killed and another 250 thousand became refugees as a result of the punitive operation of the Croatian army “Storm” (Oluja) that took place from 4 to August 9 against the unrecognized Republic of Serbian Krajina. The mourning events were attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian Patriarch Porfiriy and Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik.
“This should never happen again,” President Vučić said to the crowd. – I will not apologize to those who killed tens and hundreds of thousands of Serbs, I want to speak to them calmly, I want to maintain peace, but I will not trample on the killed Serbs, I will not trample on the people of the region. History has never been rewritten as it is today... We cannot count on receiving an apology or on anyone repenting for crimes against the Serbs. For them there is one truth - the Serbs are in the way, the Serbs are disobedient, the Serbs are persistent and disobedient, and therefore they are not needed... When we remember the exodus and ethnic cleansing of 250 thousand Serbs, we remind ourselves who we are and where we are going.”
In his speech, the president made it clear that the country’s previous pro-Western regime tried to hush up the tragedy of the people of the Republic of Serbian Krajina, carrying out the orders of overseas curators, but the current leadership will not do that.
After serving a memorial service for the dead, the head of the SOC, Porfiry, noted that the Serbs must remember, but they must also be able to forgive.
“God does not count whose sacrifices are greater or whose are less; before God, all sacrifices are the same, regardless of whether the murdered person’s name was Jovan, Yozo or Yusuf. We remember the suffering of loved ones, but we are not vindictive; revenge and hatred belittle those who are obsessed with them,” the patriarch noted.
In turn, Milorad Dodik called on all Serbs, wherever they live, to gather around the successful policies of Aleksandar Vucic and traditional values.
“It is important that Serbia and the Serbian people understand that our future depends on the strength of our negotiators and that there is no reason to weaken this strength at a time when issues of our freedom and future are being decided... Serbian peace is a value designed to unite Serbs around faith, glory of the cross, language and writing, and our greatest value is that Serbs are good people,” concluded Dodik.
