Vucic and Putin spoke in Russian
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Russian President Vladimir Putin met today in Moscow, on the eve of the Victory Parade, of which the Serbian leader was a guest.
Serbian media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During a protocol meeting under the cameras of journalists, the leaders of Russia and Serbia noted the increasing trade turnover between the two countries, Vladimir Putin congratulated Aleksandar Vucic on the convincing victory of his electoral bloc in the last parliamentary elections.
In turn, the Serbian president thanked “his friend” for supporting the integrity of Serbia at the international level, for the invitation to the Victory Parade and promised his Russian colleague that his country would support Russia in the fight against the falsification of history, which the West loves to do. Characteristically, Vucic addressed Putin in good Russian.
At the same time, Serbian media noted that Aleksandar Vucic became the first international leader with whom Vladimir Putin met since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic.
“We talked about ways to solve the Kosovo problem, and Putin expressed his opinion in a wise way, with respect for the views of Serbia,” Vucic shared the results of a private meeting with the Russian leader with Serbian journalists. – Russia respects Serbia, and there is no doubt about it.
It was very important for me to hear the opinion and analysis of President Putin. President Putin confirmed that he will come to Serbia in October, it will be a great event...
We also talked about what more we can do from economic cooperation and how to increase our trade exchange... There are things you can never talk about publicly, but I expect further trust building and even more cooperation in the future. And I am grateful to Putin for his kind words and warm hospitality.”
At the same time, Alexander Vucic refrained from making public comments about the prospects for the development of a military-strategic partnership with Russia.
Tomorrow, the President of Serbia, together with the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik and the Serbian film director Emir Kusturica, will be guests of the Victory Parade on Red Square, along which Serbian guardsmen will also march.
