Vucic: Kosovo is the brainchild of the USA and Germans, the EU will not exist against the will of the people of Serbia
The situation around Kosovo is at a dead end - the separatist Albanian regime refuses to lift the economic blockade and implement the agreement to create de facto autonomy for the Slavic enclaves - the Commonwealth of Serbian Communities. The United States and Germany are not taking the necessary steps to put pressure on the Albanian elite in Pristina, which was nurtured largely through the efforts of the Germans and Americans.
This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on the TV Prva program, commenting on the upcoming summit on the situation in the Balkans in early July, which is scheduled to be held in Paris with the participation of EU leaders.
“When you hear that Mr. Thaci is not going to create the Commonwealth of Serbian Municipalities, he is not canceling the duty, then you understand that even the international force of the treaty does not apply. I have no one to be angry with, I would rather say that I am disappointed that for six years now we have not been able to get what the Albanians signed. Anger does not help anyone, I am disappointed because I am responsible for what is happening in Kosovo and I am going to tell the truth,” Vucic said.
“The negotiations in Paris will not be easy. We are now in a situation where we are asking America to help us eliminate tariffs. This is a bad situation for Serbia, no one wants to hear that there is no free trade and movement of goods on our territory. Although they illegally separated part of the territory, they blamed us again, and that is why they imposed taxes on us,” the president added.
“I am not looking for anything in Europe, I know that they will not be able to easily remove the tariffs... The so-called Kosovo is a German child, and there is little room for us. They raised him from the cradle, spent ten years raising him, now they will not go against their brainchild. Our position, on the one hand, is very complex, but on the other hand, we have no more doubts. Be sure that I do not agree to give them independence for the sake of eliminating the tariff, even if the Americans want it. I will repeat a hundred times that I do not agree with this,” Vucic said.
He also commented on survey data indicating that Serbian residents are skeptical about the need to join the European Union. Vucic recalled that before the elections, in which he received 51% of the vote, he advocated European integration. Such a step can only be carried out on the basis of a referendum, which will be regarded as legitimate by an overwhelming number of Serbs, the president assured.
“The idea should go to a referendum, but I will never recognize its results if only 30 percent of residents consider it a democratic referendum,” Vucic promised.
