Vucic: “We will not apologize to anyone for our flags!”
At a central event in Belgrade to celebrate the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, President Aleksandar Vucic responded to those dissatisfied by raising national tricolors in Serbian communities throughout the Balkans.
The Serbian president promised these people to proudly fly the Serbian flag “from Australia to South America.”
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, Aleksandar Vucic took part in the central celebrations held on Sava Square in Belgrade near the monument to the founder of Serbian statehood Stefan Nemanja. Along with him, the guests of the holiday were Patriarch Serbskif Porfiriy, Serbian member of the Presidium of BiH Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister Anna Brnabic, government ministers, Speaker of the People's Assembly Ivica Dacic, representatives of Serbian communities, ambassadors of forty states.
“Thanks to our ancestors, the heroes of previous battles... The freedom of Serbia and the Serbian people had no price, the standard bearers died, but the flags survived,” said the Serbian President. – It is thanks to them that we celebrate today’s holiday, perhaps the most important: who we are, where we come from and where we are going…. Slaves are always the same because they are enslaved, and free people are different precisely because they are free. Our enemies say that we made up our story to flatter others. We have made so many sacrifices to see the light of freedom, forgetting our glorious history and our leaders, bishops, princes, heroes and people. And tonight they expect us to apologize to them. But we won’t do this anymore!”
Vučić noted that Serbia does not ask anything more from anyone, but wants to have the same rights as everyone else. Therefore, he will fly his national flags all over the world, from Australia to South America.
“I tell everyone who threatened Serbia in previous days that it does not occur to me to justify my conclusions or apologize. To lead Serbia with our own strength so that it is even stronger and stronger, to help the Republika Srpska, our people in Montenegro and throughout the world, so that Jasenovac, Jadovno, Prebilovac, Oluja and the pogroms will never happen again. This is our oath and we will respect your flags,” Vučić stressed.
