Vucic visited a Russian citizen beaten by Albanian special forces: Kosovo authorities declared him “persona non grata”
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and Ambassador of the Russian Federation Aleksandar Chepurin this morning visited the Russian representative at the UN mission in Kosovo and Metohija, Mikhail Krasnoshchekov. He was among those injured during the recent invasion of Albanian separatist special forces into the Serbian enclaves of the region. Krasnoshchekov was beaten on the head with the butt of a machine gun.
The Russian was transferred to the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, where doctors recorded serious injuries.
“Such use of force by Kosovo special forces is unacceptable,” President Vučić said.
The President noted that the Russian specialist was beaten with a rifle butt, including blows to the face.
During the conversation, Vucic noticed that Krasnoshchekov spoke Serbian without an accent, and he explained that he had been in the Balkans for 20 years.
“It is very important for us that you feel at home here,” the president said and wished him a speedy recovery.
Ambassador Chepurin assured the victim that Moscow would seek punishment for those responsible for the incident. The diplomat described the actions of the Albanian security forces as barbarity.
Earlier, Krasnoshchekov was visited by Defense Minister Alexander Vulin and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilovich.
The head of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Professor Dr. Miroslav Vukosavljevich told reporters that the patient suffered serious injuries - Krasnoshchekov had a fracture of the sternum and upper jaw, as well as part of the skull.
According to the victim, he was also hit by an Albanian police car.
“We have diagnosed everything and eliminated the danger of serious consequences,” the doctor said.
Let us recall that a Russian employee of the UN mission was attacked while he was speaking in Serbian with Serbs in Zubin Potok, who were building barricades to protest against the invasion of Albanian special forces into northern Kosovo and carrying out mass arrests.
Krasnoshchekov was later released from arrest due to diplomatic immunity, and then transferred to a hospital in Kosovska Mitrovica. Despite attempts by Pristina to prohibit his transportation to Belgrade, the victim was transferred for further treatment to the Military Medical Academy.
At the same time, a message came from Pristina about the reaction of the separatist Albanian authorities to the incident. “Prime Minister” Ramush Haradinaj announced today that Russian citizen Mikhail Krasnoshchekov is now declared “persona non grata.”
“The decision was made because of the actions of a Russian citizen against the constitutional order of Kosovo, universal human values, peace and stability,” Haradinaj said.
“I call on the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Kosovo to implement this decision,” added the representative of the Albanian separatists.
There has been no reaction from the UN or Russia yet.
