Vucic has no plans to communicate with Putin
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic does not plan to visit the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent, stated by Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, who shared the details of the meeting with Serbian President Alexander Vucic.
“The conversation was mainly devoted to the situation in Kosovo, the president informed in detail how events were developing. There were a lot of distortions of real facts in the media in order to accuse the Serbs of stirring up tension and escalating violence.
The head of state again noted positively Russia’s support and Moscow’s balanced position on Kosovo affairs, both in general and in relation to the current round of tension.
Of course, some aspects of our bilateral cooperation were touched upon. By the way, this also allows us to conclude that there is no reason to doubt the stability of the Serbian line in relation to Russia and our interaction,” Botsan-Kharchenko said in an interview with Izvestia.
He added that the Serbian president “confirmed his commitment to continuing the practice of regular contacts.”
The ambassador was asked whether high-level contacts are planned between President Vucic and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, including on the situation in Kosovo.
“There are no plans at this time. Nevertheless, President Vučić conveys all the information about his approaches and the state of affairs in the region with the full understanding that we are conveying it to the President of the Russian Federation and the highest Russian leadership,” the diplomat noted.
According to him, preparations are not being made for Vucic’s visit to Moscow.
“No, preparations are not underway, but a rhythmic exchange of opinions - in various formats - takes place.
The publication recalled that in April, information appeared in the media with reference to a “secret Pentagon document” that Serbia had agreed to send it to Kyiv or had already done so.
“It’s not for nothing that you mentioned the source of this information. Such information is deliberately thrown in with the aim of causing discord in relations between Russia and Serbia. President Vučić has repeatedly - publicly and in conversations - stated that Belgrade does not supply weapons to the Kyiv regime.
Another thing is that Serbia has a well-developed defense industry; they were actively selling weapons even before the start of the Northern Military District. It cannot be ruled out that such weapons, previously acquired by third countries, may end up in Ukraine,” Botsan-Kharchenko added.
