Vucic denied information that he asked for Russian help in Kosovo
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke about the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija and the upcoming negotiations with the “Prime Minister” of the temporary institutions in Pristina, Albin Kurti, which will be held in Brussels on August 18.
The head of state said that he is very skeptical about achieving any results, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“All they said was that they were going to impose their will. They don't care what Belgrade has to say, so I don't even know what this imitation of dialogue is for. Those who said that the creation of the Union of Serbian Municipalities should be discussed again, that it should be in accordance with the “Kosovo constitution”, let me ask, are they joking? So what did we agree on earlier?” Vučić expressed doubts.
The Serbian leader also noted that he has repeatedly pointed to statements by Pristina and its Western curators, which are preparing the ground for the reversal of past decisions.
“Okay, tell us that there is no law, that you are not interested in Resolution 12 44, and also UN law, which they mention so much when it comes to the conflict in Ukraine, but when it comes to this part of Europe, it is not interesting,” Vucic noted.
He also noted that Pristina is using the situation in Ukraine to take the campaign against Serbia to a new level. At the same time, the Albanian authorities in the region are spreading lies that Serbia wants to attack Kosmet, when the situation is completely different. It is Pristina that plans to attack the north of Kosovo and is preparing the liquidation of the Serbian people there under the guise of fighting crime. These data are reported by Serbian intelligence services.
Commenting on Albin Kurti's statement that Belgrade is pursuing an aggressive policy, as well as accusations that Belgrade could provoke a conflict, Vučić said that this is somewhat ridiculous, since everyone has been hearing such lies for 170 days.
“What else can he brag about? So they are inventing how Russia is trying to do something through Belgrade... What does Russia have to do with it?” – asked the Serbian leader.
He also added that even the press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that “Vučić and Belgrade did not ask for any help.”
