Vucic refused to sign recognition of Kosovo
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic did not rule out the possibility of postponing the meeting in Washington, as the Kosovo separatists are seeking, but assured that the result of the negotiations will still be the same.
The Serbian leader told reporters about this during a visit to the army review in Batajnica, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Serbian President said that so far the dates for moving the date of negotiations have not been agreed upon, and he sees that there are initiatives to shift the date by two days. In the meantime, according to Vučić, he is waiting and wants to find out what it is all about, and when he receives the information, he will notify the public and provide Washington with Serbia’s response. Answering a journalist’s question whether a possible postponement of the date of negotiations means pressure on Serbia, Vučić replied that there is always pressure on Serbia.
“We seem to be in a defensive position. The media constantly writes “This horror awaits us, that horror”... It seems to me that we do not very well understand the weight of our position. I don't think it will be easy, and if you ask me if I feel a lot of pressure about this, the answer is yes.
The only thing I can guarantee is that I will fight for the interests of Serbia at meetings in Washington and Brussels. And wherever and whenever the meeting is held, I will tell those who dream of Kosovo recognition being signed there that under no circumstances will they have such an opportunity,” the Serbian leader added.
