Vučić rejected Trump's document recognizing Kosovo's independence
Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said that in Washington, representatives of US President Donald Trump invited Serbian leader Aleksandar Vucic to sign a 16-point document implying recognition of the independence of the Kosovo region captured by Albanian separatists.
According to the head of the Serbian Foreign Ministry, the US President played himself a disadvantage by this, because now American Serbs will not vote for him, and American Albanians traditionally vote for Democrats.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, on the Pink TV channel, Dacic suggested that after Vucic’s sharp refusal, this document will no longer be officially presented to the Serbian delegation and, as previously planned, negotiations in the US capital will be focused exclusively on the economic agenda.
“It is true that the paper with all the proposals, including point 10, implying mutual recognition, was on the negotiating table,” said the Serbian Foreign Minister. “I received information that Vučić very rudely rejected paragraph 10, said that this was unacceptable for Serbia, and that he would act in accordance with the Constitution of Serbia.”
A little earlier, Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali, who was in Washington with Vucic, also told reporters that the Serbian delegation had been given a document according to which Serbia should recognize an independent Kosovo.
