“The President inspected all the workshops, got acquainted with all the problems, because in addition to construction there are many bureaucratic problems, but the President will use his personal influence in the Greek state, personal acquaintances with the President and Prime Minister of Greece, to speed up some work,” the minister said without portfolio of the Serbian government, responsible for innovation and technological development, Nenad Popović. “He made an important promise that the reconstruction of Hilandar Monastery, our most important monastery and the center of our spirituality, will be completed in two years.”

Popovic said that President Vučić and the Hilandari monks spoke long and openly about Kosovo and Metohija.

“The President told the truth that the situation is difficult, he spoke about the pressure that exists and the monks begged him to fight for Kosovo and he promised to fight with all his might. Hegumen Methodius said that he should follow the example of Saint Sava, Stefan Nemanja, monk Simeon, King Milutin, and hope that prayers before the icon of the Mother of God “Three-Handed” and before the honorable cross will help him in his fight for Kosovo,” concluded the minister accompanying the president .

The Serbian monastery of Hilandar was founded in 1198 by the first Serbian sovereign Stefan Nemanja and his son, the first Serbian archbishop Saint Sava Nemanjic. Today the monastery occupies fourth place in the hierarchy of Athonite monasteries.
