Vučić threatened Kosovo separatists with “economic measures”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic addressed the nation in connection with incident provoked by the authorities of Pristina in northern Kosovo.
An emergency meeting of the Serbian National Security Council is scheduled for tomorrow.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, speaking this evening about the armed provocation of the Albanian authorities of Kosovo, who invaded the border Serbian enclaves in order to forcibly remove Serbian license plates from cars and demand their replacement with Kosovo ones, Vučić called today “one of the most difficult days for the Serbs Kosovo and Metohija".
“Last night we learned that Pristina is planning to move special forces to the north,” President Vucic said.
He recalled that this was the sixth time that Kosovo militants, contrary to existing agreements, invaded the territory of the northern Serbian enclaves together with armored vehicles, machine guns and snipers. This time, the Kosovo authorities involved 360 representatives of illegal armed groups. The President said that the Albanians stopped a car with sick people from Vranje at an administrative crossing and removed the license plates of the sovereign state of Serbia from it, “because they don’t like these license plates.”
“Serbia’s patience is limitless, as is our desire to maintain peace and stability, but this must stop once and for all. Tomorrow we will hold a meeting of the National Security Council. The most important thing for us is to respect and implement signed agreements. Serbia will be able to defend its country and, if necessary, take important economic measures. I appeal to the people in Kosovo and Metohija: do not give in to provocations, be peaceful, and we will be with you. I am proud of our people in Kosovo and Metohija,” added President Vučić.
