Aleksandar Vucic expressed his condolences to Vladimir Putin regarding the worsening situation with the COVID-19 epidemic in Russia and expressed hope that with the help of decisive measures the country will be able to successfully fight this evil and return to normal life. He stated that Serbia is ready, if necessary and within its capabilities, to provide assistance to Russia in the fight against coronavirus. The Serbian leader also thanked his Russian colleague for the fact that “in confirmation of the extraordinary strategic relations between Serbia and Russia,” he at one time expressed concern for Serbia by sending assistance there.

“It is a great honor for Serbia to have such a sincere friend as Russia, just as it is an honor for me personally to have our relationship, built on mutual respect and trust,” the Serbian President noted.

Aleksandar Vucic informed Vladimir Putin about events in the region - from the situation in Kosovo and Metohija to the persecution of the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro. The presidents also discussed the interior painting of the Church of St. Sava in Belgrade, which is done by Russian craftsmen, and agreed that it is necessary to continue joint work in the near future so that this Orthodox temple can be consecrated in accordance with previously announced plans.

In addition, the leaders of Russia and Serbia expressed hope that circumstances will allow them to exchange visits at the interstate level. In turn, President Vucic said that despite the postponement of the traditional parade on Red Square, the holiday of May 9 was celebrated with dignity in both countries, and the Serbian and Russian people honor their heroes and fight against the falsification of history.
