Vucic: “We are strengthening the army, the conflict in Kosovo could unfreeze at any moment”
In his address to citizens, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic noted that no one can guarantee the non-resumption of the Kosovo conflict.
Taking into account the experience of Karabakh, Belgrade intends to further increase its military potential.
“It is important to tell you that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh shows that a frozen conflict can unfreeze at any moment,” Vucic said. – The situation around Kosovo and Metohija will not get better for us today and will not get any easier in the coming months. We must not leave a frozen conflict to our children.”
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the reason for the president’s address to his fellow citizens was his meeting with the ambassadors of the “quint” countries - the leading Western countries overseeing the Western Balkans. Vucic did not reveal the details of this meeting.
“We saw in the Caucasus that the world, with the exception of verbal statements, was not ready to react to what was happening. It was clear that the balance of power in the world had changed and no one could be trusted. Therefore, we will work to further strengthen our defense capabilities and our army,” the Serbian president added.
Aleksandar Vučić warned the public that a conflict could also happen with Serbia, and the country will do everything to continue negotiations so that the military scenario does not materialize.
