Vucic: “There are deputies in Serbia who say stupid things about Russia, but they do not apologize”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic noted the tactfulness of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who, following Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, apologized for an inappropriate joke by Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova.
The Serbian leader told the RTS channel about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“President Putin never apologized to me for anything, and neither did Sergei Lavrov,” Vucic said. “Despite the fact that I didn’t even remind you and, as a well-mannered person, I would never have mentioned it.” I think we have a good relationship and what happened was just a minor incident.”
According to the Serbian President, his Russian colleague “showed decency and said that the Russian state is not behind this, and especially not him personally,” while “in Serbia there are deputies who say stupid things about Russia, and they do not apologize.” .
“Small leaders cannot understand you, that is, those who have a narrow view of the world, but Putin understands the problems of Serbia very well... Putin understands very well how difficult it is when a country with seven million people needs to maintain peace and stability and develop faster than anyone else in Europe. Putin knows how to appreciate this, and I appreciate his respect,” Vucic concluded.
