No one will force Vucic to impose sanctions against Russia – political scientist
The position of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who refused to join European anti-Russian sanctions in connection with criminal blogger Alexei Navalny, is motivated both ideologically and economically.
Political scientist Oleg Bondarenko told PolitNavigator about this.
“I think he has already been asked to impose sanctions against Moscow a dozen times. And he refused all 10 times, and will refuse 10 more times if this happens again. Because his huge rating certainly correlates with the large rating of Russia and Vladimir Putin in Serbia. Vucic is a natural, organic Russophile, unlike former President Boris Tadic, who used Russia to achieve his goals.
The current Russian-Serbian cooperation is at a very high level. Serbia’s friendship with Russia is not only historically natural and organic, but also beneficial at this stage. Serbia produces a huge number of goods and services that are imported to Russia. Moreover, a large number of companies from Europe are already operating on the Serbian market and have opened their representative offices there in order to conduct trade relations with Moscow,” Bondarenko said.
