The next court hearing in the case of the leader of the “Russian Bloc” Gennady Basov, who has been in a pre-trial detention center without proven guilt for more than a year on charges of taking a bribe, turned into a scandal. His associates claim that Basov became a victim of a “set-up”, having paid for an attempt to destroy the “cemetery mafia” that had been operating in Sevastopol since Ukrainian times.

At the court hearing, Basov’s defense attorney said that the inconsistencies in the prosecution’s version were already obvious to everyone, and therefore the preventive measure for the leader of the “Russian Bloc” should be changed to house arrest. However, Themis’s servant rejected the defense’s proposal, citing the gravity of the article under which Basov was accused.

“You swore an oath to Ukraine, so you are removing the fighter for the Russian Spring!” – one of the women watching the trial in the courtroom could not stand it. The judge immediately responded by demanding that she leave the premises.

Basov's defense believes that questioning the testimony of witnesses in court demonstrates the politician's innocence - for a long time they tried to provoke Basov into accepting a bribe. When this failed, the leader of the “Russian Bloc” was arrested on the basis of a statement from businessman Rappoport, who, as it later turned out at the trial, had never seen or spoken to Basov in his life.

“Everything was done with the aim of organizing a criminal case against Basov... The prosecution witness, businessman Dudkin, directly indicated in court that the police officers transferred money to him so that, if he had the opportunity, he would transfer it to Basov as a bribe. These actions were confirmed by the witness Vladimirov, who then acted as a witness,” states the “Russian Bloc”.

Basov's defense also released a fragment of the transcript from the courtroom:

Bass: I will have a few questions, I have no doubt in principle that you were present at this event in the evening. I would like to ask why you don’t remember your first home and don’t remember very well the number of the house in which you live, but you remember my last name and the address of my residence so perfectly?

Witness Komarov: Because as soon as I entered the courtroom, a representative of law enforcement agencies sent me my testimony, and I read that...

Bass: So, he instructed you?

Witness Komarov: Yes Yes.

Bass: That is, before you come here, you...

Witness Komarov: Yes, I read what testimonies he gave, so as not to say that I don’t know anything at all.

(Noise and laughter in the hall).
