“You are pushing us” – Novak allowed Nord Stream 1 to stop
Russia has nothing to do with the current rise in energy prices and market volatility. Western politicians bear responsibility for this.
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak stated this on NTV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, we see statements from European politicians regarding energy issues, calls to get rid of Russian oil and gas. European officials are once again trying to shift the problems and failures of their own energy policy in recent years onto Russia. As a result, there is a sharp increase in energy prices that we are seeing today,” Novak said.
He recalled that today Gazprom fully fulfills its contractual obligations for gas supplies to Europe, providing 40% of its needs. Supplies through the Ukrainian gas transportation system have been increased to 109 million cubic meters per day.
“At the same time, we understand that in connection with unfounded accusations against Russia regarding the energy crisis in Europe and the introduction of a ban on Nord Stream 2, we have every right to make a “mirror” decision and impose an embargo on gas pumping through the pipeline Nord Stream 1, which today is loaded at a maximum level of 100%. But we have not made this decision yet. No one will benefit from this. Although European politicians are pushing us towards this with their statements and accusations against Russia,” Novak warned.
