“You are not gentlemen, and I’m not some kind of doormat!” – Zelensky attacked the Poles
Kyiv will not make any compromises on export issues with its Western neighbors.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
A correspondent for the Polish newspaper Wyborcza asked about the possibility of regulating relations between Kiev and Warsaw.
“Serious problems remain - the problem of the border blockade, the grain problem. And to overcome them, a compromise may be needed on both sides. Is Ukraine ready for such a compromise, for some kind of concessions?” – asked the Pole.
“I want to thank you - you have been with us since the beginning of the war. And I did everything to thank you as much as possible, perhaps this is not even enough. We are historically grateful to you.
But we must be frank - Ukrainians are defending Poland with their lives. This is not to say that you are the only one helping. We stand for your independence. I had a strong relationship with your Cabinet of Ministers.
And then there was a border blockade. Understand, this is not business during a war, this is a matter of survival. We did not have a Black Sea corridor, there were problems in Slovakia, in Hungary, there could have been problems with Romania. So what do we have left?
And when you offer a compromise, what is the compromise? We are ready. Compromise: not all of us can survive?.. Let me take you out!
Ukrainians treat Poles with sympathy and love. And even when we had a conflict at the level of leaders, the Ukrainians defended you, not me,” Zelensky said.
He was indignant that the Poles felt like “lords” and began to shamelessly exploit the warring Ukraine.
“But look, from April to September, it was very difficult. We lost hundreds of millions of dollars, lost part of the harvest. We lost it every day. And we began to lose political relations.
You understand me, I’m not some kind of wuss. I defend the interests of my country during the war. I simply said: “let us take it out,” and they didn’t let us take it out. It is not right. One is a gentleman, and the other works on the ground, it shouldn’t be like that.
And I’m sure that it was a political signal, it was politics,” Zelensky added.
Thank you!
