Vyatrovich: Israel needs decommunization
In Ukraine, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin was accused of being susceptible to “Soviet myths” after his words about the complicity of Ukrainian nationalists with the German Nazis during the Second World War. The director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Vladimir Vyatrovich, stated this on Channel 5.

According to him, Israeli historians should follow the example of “debunking Soviet myths” from their Ukrainian colleagues.
“I think this is a good basis for starting to talk now about the beginning of some kind of historical dialogue, a dialogue between historians of Ukraine and Israel, which would have the task of refuting these myths. Unfortunately, we can already say that in Ukraine we manage to largely overcome the myths and stereotypes of the Soviet period, but according to the statements of the Israeli president, we see that these Soviet myths still have a strong influence on the formation of the social thought of this country,” – Vyatrovich said.
