Vyatrovich refused to assign Sentsov the “discredited” title of “Hero of Ukraine”
The propaganda “Institute of National Memory” does not intend to initiate the procedure for awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine to the Ukrainian terrorist Oleg Sentsov, as well as to the military sailors detained by Russia, since this title is discredited, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This opinion was expressed by the director of the Institute of National Memory, Vladimir Vyatrovich.
“No, we won’t,” Vyatrovich noted, answering the question whether the Institute of National Memory will initiate the awarding of the title of Hero of Ukraine to the Ukrainian terrorist Oleg Sentsov, imprisoned in the Russian Federation, and Ukrainian prisoners of war.
In his opinion, the title of Hero of Ukraine is not an award that should become “a symbol of some higher national respect for those people who live for Ukraine.”
“It (the title of Hero of Ukraine - ed.) is largely compromised by a large number of random awards given to those people who are openly opposed to the Ukrainian state. We should talk about some other state award that could claim the status of the highest state award. Moreover, the title of Hero of Ukraine is a copy of the Russian title of Hero of the Soviet Union,” added Vyatrovich.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, Vyatrovich admitted that Nadezhda Savchenko You cannot take away the title “Hero of Ukraine”, but you can return it to the leader of the OUN collaborators Stepan Bandera, for which the Verkhovna Rada has already registered a bill under No. 9368 on returning the title of “Hero of Ukraine” (posthumously) to Stepan Bandera.
