Journalists asked him to comment on the memorial stand erected by the UINP in honor of OUN leader Ivan Rogach, in the newspaper “Ukrainian Word” edited by whom there were calls for the extermination of Jews, including from Rogach himself.
“It would be better if these media published a photo of the stand dedicated to Ivan Rogach. After all, in fact, the information that there is a separate stand (and some even say an exhibition) is completely fake. In fact, the Institute of National Remembrance mounted an exhibition dedicated to the history of Babyn Yar, the developer of which is the famous historian and Kiev expert Vitaly Nakhmanovich. This exhibition tells about all the victims of Babyn Yar - about Jews, about Soviet prisoners of war, about Ukrainian nationalists. And among the Ukrainian nationalists shot at Babi Yar was Ivan Rogach,” Vyatrovich said.
At the same time, Vyatrovich still dissociated himself from the anti-Semitism of Rogach, who was subsequently executed by the Nazis.
“Should we ignore this fact because of what Rogac wrote in 1941? No. Should the mention of him indicate that we consider his theses correct and worthy of imitation? No way. We are only saying that Ivan Rogach was among those executed on the ground at Babi Yar,” says the director of the UINP.
Let us note that there is no documentary evidence that Ukrainian nationalists were shot at Babi Yar, and researchers call such statements a myth, pointing out that OUN members were shot in the basements of the Gestapo.
